Results of Pelham Town Election in March, 1875

With yesterday's Election Day now over, it somehow seems appropriate on the Historic Pelham Blog to provide the election results from Pelham's Town election held in March 1875.  Of the sixteen Town officials elected on that occasion, 15 were Democrats.  Below are pertinent excerpts of an article that appeared in The New York Times.

"WESTCHESTER TOWN ELECTIONS.

The result of the election for town officers in Westchester County, is as follows: . . . .

Pelham, James Hyatt, Democrat . . . .

Pelham.-Town Clerk, E. W. Waterhouse; Collector, George W. Sembler; Justice of the Peace, E. A. Patterson; Assessor, N. W. Abbott; Commissioner of Highways, Elisha Booth; Overseers of the Poor, W. N. Baxter and Jacob Heiser; Game Constable, George Kindregan; Town Auditors, William Anderson, William H. Delancey, and William Dayton; Excise Commissioners, S. E. Lyons, S. B. Billar, and Jacob Brady.  All Democrats except Mr. Dayton."
