Last night I located the obituary for Martha Emmons Weihman that appeared in the August 16, 1940 issue of The Pelham Sun. The obituary, in its entirety, appears below.

“Mrs. Clifford Weihman Dies Following Heart Attack on Wednesday

-----

Stricken While Attending to Her Flower Garden, She Failed to Rally. Funeral Saturday.

-----

Funeral services for Mrs. Clifford T. Weihman of No. 401 Monterey avenue, Pelham Manor, will be held on Saturday morning, Aug. 17th at 11 o’clock from Christ’s Church, Pelham Manor, the Rev. Fr. Edward Taggard officiating. Burial, which will be private, will be in Greenwood cemetery, Brooklyn.

Mrs. Weihman was stricken with a heart attack on Wednesday afternoon about 3:30, while she was attending to her flower garden. She was carried into her home and Dr. Meredith of New Rochelle substituting for Dr. Guion, family physician was summoned. She failed to rally from the attack and passed away shortly before 5 o’clock. Her health had not been good for several months, owing to her heart condition, but it was hoped that she was improving as she felt much brighter on Wednesday morning.

Mrs. Weihman was born in New York City 46 years ago. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and one son, Clifford Emmons Weihman. Mr. Weihman is a member of the Board of Governors of Pelham Country Club, and a former president of the Oil Association of New York City.”
