The Bolton Family of Pelham operated the Pelham Priory School for Girls for much of the mid-19th century. The school was held in Bolton Priory in Pelham Manor. Bolton Priory is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Below is an image of an advertisement for the school published in 1881 followed by a transcription of its text and a citation to its source.
"PELHAM PRIORY.
FORTY-THIRD YEAR. October 3, 1881.
Still offers its home-like influences and educational advantages to Christian parents and guardians for the training of young ladies. French and German languages taught by native professors. Address Miss BOLTON, Pelham Prioery, Westchester County, N.Y."
